About the Designer
Ron Corl has been designing and building "stuff" since he was a baby. "I remember stacking blocks in kindergarten and trying to understand how far I could push them off-center before they would fall. I've never stopped pushing those design blocks as far as I can! My clients will often ask how I come up with my ideas, and I like to tell them - If you never build a box around yourself in the first place, you'll never need to think outside of it!"
Since those early "block stacking" days, Ron has built whatever he needed and couldn't readily find. He's created everything from furniture, lamps, accessories, paintings, and even musical instruments. In 1998, Ron purchased family land. Needing a place to live on his 30 acre tree farm, Ron designed and built a tiny cottage that proves there can be comfortable living in 600 square feet or less. He shares the cottage with his artist wife, Susan, and 2 cats.
Ron's designs are influenced by simply seeing things differently. "I find inspiration in everything I see and then twist it while drawing or literally turn it upside down to get a new perspective. My favorite word is "if" - so really, how could I ever stop creating?"
Always guided by function, form, and nature, Ron's designs are unique but somehow familiar at the same time. His pieces don't blend in with your room - they are the anchor point and you design your room around them! |
